21st July 2013 was a busy day of cycling in York. Sky Ride Local teamed up with the Men’s and Women’s British National Circuit Race Championships plotting a 1km loop from York Minster around the city centre. Meanwhile the City of York Council and British Cycling gave 100 York residents the opportunity to ride the Championship route before the elite riders took to the course.

Following months of event planning and production meetings with City of York Council Events Team, we provided three screens to be positioned in York City Centre. With one screen positioned at the main event site and start/finish point of the cycle race, we transmitted a wireless feed of the screen content from this screen to the other two screens in the city centre. To ensure a strong signal, we cabled the feed up the side of York Minster, where a wireless transmitter and booster were positioned at the top of the highest tower. Wireless receivers were set up at the second and third screen locations, with back up equipment in place as a precaution. Screen content was provided to us from British Cycling’s chosen production team who supplied their own live camera crew, motorbike cameras and edit facilities to film the race.
When the race finished, we streamed live ITV4 footage of Tour de France footage on screen via our on-board satellite receiver.
